FAO supports Angola on locust damage assessment to assist affected farmers.

The United Nations Fund for Food and Agriculture is providing a technical support to Angola to mitigate the effects of the locust and drought in the south of the country.  According to the United Nations Fund for Food and Agriculture (FAO) representative to Angola, Gherda Barreto, the support is provided to the multsectoral commission that is working on a response plan to control the locust outbreak in the provinces of Cunene and Kuando kubango.

Gherda Barreto added that her organization will continue provinding its assistence to enhance the capacity of the communities as well as support the government to locust damage assessment to assist affected family farmers.
