Angola received the first batch of 624,000 doses of Covid-19 vacines through Indian Astrazeneca, as part of the Covax’s action.

Angola is the third African country to receive the Astrazeneca vaccines, after Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire.

The government is working with the Covax initiative, made up of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, World Health Organisation (WHO) and Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), to ensure that the country has access to vaccines.

Angola plans to vaccinate 53 percent of the population against Covid-19, for a total of 16.4 million people, in two phases.
