US grants 11.1 million dollars for landmine clearence in Angola

The United States of America granted an additional amount of 11.1 million US Dollar for a new humanitarian demining and weapons stockpile management projects in Angola.

Of this amount 8.6 million dollars will support humanitarian demining by the HALO Trust and expand the operational capacity of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in the provinces of Bié, Kuando Kubango, and Moxico.

2.5 million is directed to weapons stockpile management programs to support the partnership between the Angolan security forces.

The projects aim to return over 4.2 square kilometers of land to productive use and destroy over 9,600 explosive hazards, which will benefit the safety and security of over 48,000 Angolans.
