Delegations from the Democratic Republic of Congo and the M23 will begin direct peace negotiations in Luanda on Tuesday, the government announced recently in a statement.
The meeting between the two delegations is the result of the continuation of the efforts carried out by Angolan mediation in the conflict affecting the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Last Tuesday, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, held a working meeting at the Presidential Palace to discuss the prevailing situation in that neighboring country.
Meanwhile, Bankole Adeoye, commissioner for political affairs, peace and security of African Union Commission reported that they´re very pleased with the substantial progresso made in the Luanda process.
On her part, Nardos Bekele – Thomas, CEO of Afircan Union Development Agency stated that its an honour for Angola to assume the chairmanship of African Union.
